The Northstar gets a bad rap from mostly owners who neglect maintenance. Head gasket issues yes, but that was resolved for the 2003 model years and above. Don't let that discourage you from buying an older one though, they're still relatively bulletproof motors that love WOT runs. Just do your homework and check maintenance records.
