The LIM Gasket failure on the 3800 II should be common knowledge to most mechanics, unless they are just shade tree mechanics, that is in my opinion. Have the lower intake manifold gasket changed to FEL-PRO Part # MS98014T, and have the EGR stove pipe swapped to the reduced diameter one that comes in that kit.

I did a UIM/LIM gasket job last year and Timing Cover-oil pah-engine mounts job this year, common thing I noticed there is alot of coolant still in the system after draing radiator ,like easily 2-3 quarts, on the UIM/LIM job I rember lots of coolant in LIM, so much that you need to be very careful when pulling it so it dosent go into cylnders.The 3800 simply does not kill head gaskets. If you are losing coolant, get the UIM and LIM gasket issues addressed, and flush coolant. If you are not losing coolant, you can probably still stand a coolant flush, but if it's not overheating, or exhibiting any other symptoms of a head gasket failure, don't worry about it.Before I changed my UIM and LIM gaskets, there was oil between the fuel injectors on the LIM in those little valleys. ... 1) disconnect the ECT. 2) connect resistances 1400, 93, and 55 ohms in turn and observe guage. 3) guage should read min, mid, and max temperature. This tested out just fine. 1400 ohms is for 40°C, and the min in the guage is 40°C. 93 ohms is for 120°C, and the exact mid positon is 120°C. Likewise for the max.
