He checked and said I was about a fingertip dilated/about 1 cm and cervix is soften! He didn't say anything about effacement (whatever that means!)m. marciamaria. My last pregnancy I was 4cm at 36,37,38 weeks labor finally came at 38 weeks. m. meghoss. @jessi3324, I am 37 wks and I have been at a 3.5 for the last 4 weeks as of Friday I'm at a 4 and no labor pains for me yet either. A week after I stopped the meds/BR (37 weeks), I was induced (for other reasons) and I was 3-4cm/90%.
