I'd go to the Deere site and see if they offer a tech manual for your model Gator. I bought one off Ebay for my 825i !! Craig.I think the manufacturers intended the clutch to be run dry. If the correct dry lubricant is used it probably helps at least until the lubricant gets slung off. Using something oily should work as well but will attract and hold dirt possibly making the problem worse in the long run.

As a reminder these clutch’s are designed to be operated without any lubricants. The Primary clutch has weights and pins that can wear and likely why some suggested the primary as a likely source. Considering you only have the primary, secondary and belt.
