Hello all, I need some help on how to properly run the vacuum lines on my new motor. I recently got a 1987 Chevy 350, with a holley 600 carb put in my malibu. I have the vacuum advance, transmission vacuum line, brake booster, and pcv lines to put on. It is best to use a metal line for all but the connections at the modulator valve and if necessary at the intake manifold. If you try to run a rubber hose the full length the hose will eventually get soft and suck together which will not allow vacuum to get to the transmission. Using manifold vacuum advance will add 10-20º of extra advance at idle and the engine speeds up a lot. Nail the throttle and that extra 20º timing drops away and a bog will probably occur. Mar 5, 2020 · There is a vacuum reservoir (Black canister) under the hood on top of the A/C plenum. One vacuum line runs over from that reservoir to manifold vacuum. The other line on the reservoir runs over a short distance and then goes through a grommet in the firewall and over to your HVAC controls. That is the vacuum that runs to the vacuum motors.
