I had the service trailer brake message come on intermittently after i started driving within 5 min or so, and noticed it was only coming on when i "feathered" the brake pedal. After replacing the relay suggested here and replacing the module in the dash neither helped the problem.
Just as a fail-safe we also replaced all the plugs and wires.
